The story of Kanhara

Road safety is a major problem in Cambodia. The number of people killed each year is on the rise and thousands of people face life-long disabilities due to road accidents

Kanhara was injured in a car accident and lost her right arm and leg. Handicap International helped her to access the rehabilitation centre in Kampong Cham, Cambodia. Since then, she has been learning to walk with a prosthetic. Injuries from explosions caused by landmines and other explosive weapons as well as road traffic accidents are a leading cause of disability in Cambodia. Handicap International work to make land safe from weapons of war and promote road safety but also provide physical rehabilitation services; produce and fit prosthetic limbs and orthoses.
